FT: Western technologies were used in the production of the Russian 'Oreshnik'

2024.12.27

The enterprises creating the 'Oreshnik' missile use equipment from the Japanese company Fanuc and the German companies Siemens and Haidenhain

The production of the Russian missile system 'Oreshnik' uses equipment from Japan and Germany, writes Financial Times. The publication reported this, citing job advertisements posted by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology (MIT) and the 'Sozvezdie' concern. Ukrainian intelligence considers them involved in the missile's development.

The advertisements state that they use equipment from the Japanese Fanuc and the German Siemens and Haidenhain. All three companies produce control systems for CNC machines. The control system from Fanuc was spotted in a 'Titan-Barricades' video, which also participates in the production of 'Oreshnik'.

According to journalists, this proves that the Russian military machine still heavily relies on foreign developments. Western countries aimed to reduce the supply of military equipment at the very beginning of the war. But as Financial Times notes, while supplies have slowed, they have not stopped. In 2024, such equipment worth $3 million was imported into Russia. It was imported through third countries, including China.
