The defendant's bicycle, which he used to travel around the city, was confiscated as a "tool of the crime"

The Zheleznogorsk City Court of the Krasnoyarsk region sentenced 39-year-old local resident Vladimir Garmash to three years in a general regime colony on charges of "discrediting" the Russian army, resulting in property damage, reported the publication NGS24. The man was convicted for damaging 13 banners advertising contract military service, and in addition to the actual sentence, his bicycle was confiscated as a "tool of the crime." The prosecution requested four years in a general regime colony with subsequent restriction of freedom for the same period.

In August, the Investigative Committee of the Krasnoyarsk region announced the initiation of a criminal case against a resident of Zheleznogorsk, who, according to the investigation, "deliberately and purposefully" destroyed 13 campaign posters calling for contract military service in public places in June 2024.

Court materials state that Garmash damaged "an image in the colors of the St. George ribbon of the Latin letter Z, which is a symbol of patriotism, loyalty, and duty during the special military operation." The city administration estimated the damage at 29,375 rubles.

In court, he fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse, adding that he was always taught that nothing is more valuable than human life. "I did not want to go to the SMO because I understood that I would be forced to kill people, take an oath, and so on," said Garmash in court.
