It is claimed that the man died, his wife lost a leg and was hospitalized in a serious condition.
According to Mash, a plastic explosive with a power of 100 grams in TNT equivalent was planted under the car.
In the summer of 2022, the Russians imprisoned several dozen captured defenders of Mariupol in a prison in Yelenovka, on July 29 it became known that an explosion occurred in the colony, resulting in the deaths of 50 prisoners of war, and another 150 were injured. Russia blamed Ukraine and a missile strike from the American MLRS HIMARS. However, Ukrainian prisoners who were in Yelenovka and were later released in an exchange, reported about explosives planted by Russians inside the barrack. On the anniversary of the tragedy, the UN made an official statement that it could not have been an American missile strike.
In July 2024, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office charged the colony's leadership, stating that Evsyukov and his deputy «deliberately delayed providing urgent medical assistance». According to the prosecutor's office, nine seriously injured prisoners of war died in the colony due to the explosion.
