The Chemal District Court in Altai sentenced 36-year-old local resident Alexey Matsikov to one year and six months in a general regime colony for the arson of a police department and released him from punishment considering the time spent in custody, reported the Investigative Committee of the republic.

The court decided that in October 2023, the man, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, threw four glass jars with flammable liquid at the police building. The door and facade caught fire, law enforcement officers were not injured, writes the 'Siberian Express'. The suspect admitted guilt.

Meanwhile, according to the court's records, throughout 2023, five protocols were drawn up against Matsikov for disobeying police officers' orders, and in August of the same year, he was detained on suspicion of collecting wild hemp under the article on illegal drug acquisition and sentenced to mandatory work.

Court decisions indicate that Matsikov is an unemployed second-group disabled person, with a minor child dependent on him.
