The Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg released from custody the cleric of the Yekaterinburg Church Bolshoi Zlatoust, Daniil Sidorov. He was prohibited from communicating with witnesses and the victim, and the priest is also obliged to appear for questioning at the investigator's request, reported the correspondent of the publication It’s My City.
On the evening of November 10, near the entrance of a residential building in Yekaterinburg, a masked man blocked the path of a 19-year-old girl and attempted to rape her, grabbing her in intimate areas. The incident was caught on a doorbell camera, wrote the local publication E1.
The suspect in the case became the cleric of the Yekaterinburg Church Bolshoi Zlatoust, Daniil Sidorov. Two weeks later, he was detained at Koltsovo Airport and confessed to the crime.
Sidorov is 26 years old, a native of Tyumen, and since 2020 he worked as a secretary-referent for the Metropolitan of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye, Yevgeny. The church court, after the incident, removed Sidorov from the diocese's staff. The man has a wife and a young son.
