The state Belarusian TV channel ONT published a video with Belarusian Vasily Veremeychik, who was detained on November 13 in Vietnam. He fought in a volunteer unit on the side of Ukraine and participated in battles in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Luhansk regions.
Veremeychik was the deputy commander of the "Volat" battalion of the Kalinouski regiment and was awarded the medal "Ukraine Above All".
The head of the investigative department of the KGB of Belarus, Konstantin Bychek, stated that Veremeychik was brought to Belarus "within the framework of interstate cooperation at the request of the KGB," as he was internationally wanted on a criminal case.
The political association "Prokopiev–Yegorov Bloc," which Veremeychik represented, reported that the ex-fighter was detained on November 13 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, provoking a fight for a formal reason, and the next day he was extradited to Belarus. Veremeychik left Belarus after the 2020 protests and moved to Ukraine. With the start of the war, he joined a unit where Belarusians fight on the side of Ukraine. In Belarus, he is recognized as a "terrorist organization".
Veremeychik left the regiment after a conflict with its headquarters. At that time, the SBU banned him from staying in Ukraine. The young man tried to obtain political asylum in EU countries, but Lithuania recognized him as a threat to national security and banned entry into the EU.
