A 24-year-old resident of Chita enlisted for the war in Ukraine from a correctional colony as part of the “Storm” unit. In December 2023, he was wounded and returned home, and now he has received a summons for mandatory military service, the portal “Chita.ru” reported.
The young man received a summons for a medical examination, and he may be called up for mandatory service. “I was told over the phone that I needed to appear to clarify military registration documents. I came, and they gave me a summons for a medical examination. Based on its results, I will be sent for mandatory service. Of course, I mentioned the injury, but they replied that ‘I look normal.’ After participating in the Special Military Operation, I do not want to serve. I was also told that if I do not voluntarily come, I will be brought in forcibly,” he told journalists.
The military commissar of Chita, Konstantin Seleznev, explained to journalists that participation in the “Special Military Operation” under federal law does not exempt from mandatory service. “If a person is deemed fit based on the medical examination results and does not have a deferral, they must be called up,” the military commissar stated.
