Alexander Lukashenko pardoned 31 people, reported 'Pul Pervogo'. Pardoned are two women and 29 men. 17 have chronic illnesses, three are disabled. 27 of the convicted have children, including 7 with many children, writes Lukashenko's press service. The message specifies that the convicted are released from the main punishment without expunging the conviction.
In the summer and autumn, Lukashenko signed 4 decrees, during which 115 people were pardoned.
Since the summer of 2020, almost 3,600 people have been recognized as political prisoners by the human rights community, including 656 women. According to the human rights movement 'Vyasna', at the end of October 2024, there were 1,299 political prisoners in places of detention in Belarus, including 168 women. In October, the human rights community recognized 35 people as political prisoners. In addition, demands for rehabilitation have been made for 13 former political prisoners whose names were previously unknown to human rights defenders.
