In Mordovia, a former convict who deserted from the army was detained on suspicion of 'treason' for allegedly transmitting data about regional enterprises fulfilling state defense orders. The footage of the detention was published by RIA 'Novosti'. It is reported that during the detention, a knife in a sheath on his belt and several mobile phones were found, and four bottles with incendiary mixture were discovered in the car.
According to the channel 'Operational Reports' close to law enforcement, the detainee turned out to be a former convict who signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense. According to the case materials, in December 2023, he deserted from a military hospital and went into hiding in the territory of Mordovia. There, the man began communicating in a messenger with a 'representative of the prohibited Ukrainian armed formation in Russia' and transmitted data to him about enterprises in Mordovia fulfilling state defense orders and the locations of military cargo passing through the region.
Law enforcement claims that in October 2024, the man allegedly secretly photographed the checkpoint of a Ministry of Defense object, 'approach routes to it, and also prepared incendiary mixtures for committing a terrorist act'.
The FSB initiated a criminal case on 'treason'. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention.
