The former head of the Komi Republic, Vladimir Uyba, has taken the position of first deputy head of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, reports TASS, citing the press service of the head of Komi. The decree appointing the official was signed by Vladimir Putin.
Uyba announced his resignation on November 5. According to him, Vladimir Putin "entrusted him with a new front of work at the federal level." However, Uyba did not specify what kind of work he would be engaged in.
Vladimir Uyba was appointed acting head of Komi in April 2020. In September 2020, he won the election for the head of Komi, receiving more than 74% of the votes with a total voter turnout of 30.16%.
The acting head of Komi was appointed the former governor of the Jewish Autonomous Region, Rostislav Goldstein.
This is so far the first regional head who, after resignation, was appointed to a federal position. Nothing is yet known about the appointment of two other former governors. On November 4, the 67-year-old governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, and the 47-year-old governor of the Tambov region, Maxim Yegorov, resigned. They explained their decision by transitioning to another job. On the day of the resignation, FSB officers visited Golubev. According to local journalists, the special service officers "interviewed" the former regional head and seized documents.
