The Krasnodar Territory Prosecutor's Office approved the indictment against 34-year-old native of Melitopol, Yegor Semenov, noted "Mediazona"*. He is accused of committing a "terrorist act" using toxic substances and "state treason" due to the delivery of poisoned alcohol and cake to a reunion of graduates of the aviation school in Armavir.
The case has been transferred to the Southern District Military Court.
According to the investigation, Semenov, who became a Russian citizen in 2022, was recruited in April 2023 by an "employee of the Ukrainian special services." The man was promised 400,000 rubles for organizing the murder of graduates of the Armavir Higher Military Aviation Red Banner School of Pilots of Air Defense.
As noted in the indictment, Semenov ultimately did not receive the money.
According to the investigation, the man flew to Armavir and added cordiamin to bottles of alcohol and a cake. On October 20, 2023, he hired a courier who delivered the alcohol and cake to the restaurant where the school reunion was taking place, with 77 people gathered at the event. The package seemed suspicious to the pilots because the courier could not say who it was from, and they contacted the FSB. Later, an examination confirmed that the products were sent.
Two days later, Semenov was detained, initially arrested on charges of petty hooliganism, and five days later sent to a pre-trial detention center on the "terrorism" case. During the investigation, he was also charged with "treason."
