In Tel Aviv, the central Ayalon highway was blocked, about 40 people were detained

After Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Galant, spontaneous protests began across the country—in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Be'er Sheva. In Tel Aviv, protesters burned tires on the roads and blocked the central Ayalon highway. In Jerusalem, people gathered near the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where the police set up barricades.

According to Israel's "Channel 9," more than 40 people were detained in Tel Aviv and taken to the police.

Netanyahu explained the dismissal by a lack of mutual trust and disagreements. Galant explained that the dismissal was related to disagreements on three key issues: mandatory service in the IDF, which the former defense minister strongly advocated as a guarantee of the country's security, the return of hostages even through compromises, and the need for a state investigative commission.

The new defense minister will be Israel Katz, who previously headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
