US Elections: In the count of 'swing' states, Donald Trump leads in all but Michigan

2024.11.06

After processing more than 70% of the votes, Trump is ahead of Harris in Pennsylvania — the most important 'swing' state

Polling stations have closed in most states, including all seven 'swing' states. So far, Donald Trump leads in all but Michigan.

In the crucial state of Pennsylvania, which will give the winner 19 electoral votes, after half of the ballots were processed, the Republican candidate surged ahead. After processing 73% of the ballots, Trump has 51% of the votes, while Harris has 48%. In Cambria County, votes will be counted manually after a software glitch, reported state secretary Al Schmidt. Due to the glitch, ballots could not be scanned by machines at the polling stations. Now the ballots will be counted by pairs of representatives from the Republicans and Democrats, which "may take some time".

The same figures (51% versus 48%) are in Georgia, where 93% of the ballots have been processed, and in North Carolina, where 88% of the votes have been counted. These states will give the winner 16 electoral votes each. On NBC News, it was noted that Trump in Georgia improved his performance among Latinos and young men up to 30 years old, compared to the results of the 2016 and 2020 elections.

In Wisconsin, 65% of the votes have been processed so far, and Trump is ahead of Harris by 3% (51% versus 48%). This state will give the winner 10 electoral votes.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, which has 11 electoral votes, after counting 53% of the votes, the candidates' results are separated by a few tenths of a percent.

In Michigan, where a third of the votes have been counted, Kamala Harris is leading, this state will give the winner 15 electoral votes;

The New York Times estimates Trump's chances of winning the election at 89%. According to forecasts, taking into account the existing percentages of vote processing, the Republican Party candidate is gaining 230 electoral votes out of the required 270. Kamala Harris is currently gaining 187 electoral votes.
