On Tuesday, North Korea launched at least seven short-range ballistic missiles off its eastern coast, shortly after Pyongyang condemned the military exercises of its rivals and a few hours before the US elections, reports Reuters. The missiles reached an altitude of 100 km and covered a distance of 400 km before falling into the sea.
The day before, in a statement published by the state agency KCNA, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un condemned the military exercises, stating that the disruption of the balance of power on the Korean Peninsula could lead to war.
After the launch, the United States held consultations with South Korea, Japan, and other regional allies and continues to monitor the situation, American military officials said.
Last week, North Korea tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile "Hwasong-19" capable of reaching the mainland United States.
