The Yekaterinburg «Yeltsin Center» announced the cancellation of the lecture series by writer and publicist Alexander Arkhangelsky «The Burden of the 90s: Art, Politics, Life». The Ministry of Justice recently declared him a «foreign agent». «Yes, we are unfortunately forced to cancel due to his inclusion in the foreign agents registry», — the center's press service confirmed to the publication It’s My City, adding that all those who purchased tickets will be refunded.
The inclusion of Arkhangelsky in the «foreign agents» registry was justified by the Ministry of Justice due to his anti-war stance, criticism of the Russian authorities, and appearances on platforms provided by «foreign agents».
As reported in July by «Vecherneye Vedomosti», during one of the meetings while discussing the film «Motherland», in which Arkhangelsky participated, a man burst into the cinema hall and demanded that the writer answer the question of which country's citizen he is.
* Recognized as a «foreign agent» in Russia.
