They were placed in a detention center until trial, the foreigners themselves claim that they are just tourists

At the Baikonur Cosmodrome, citizens of Germany and France were detained for attempting to photograph the rocket carrier, reports TASS citing a source in the security forces.

The channel associated with the security forces, Shot, writes that two young people were detained when they were standing with smartphones near the rocket carrier. It is claimed that they were allegedly preparing to take pictures. The Telegram channel writes that the detainees are 21-year-old French citizen Axel Olivier Roberto Guieno and 26-year-old German Julian Karl-Jürgen Porenz.

According to the foreigners, they are tourists who came to see the legendary Baikonur and were heading towards the dynamic testing stand.

A protocol was drawn up against the detainees under an administrative article, but the article itself is not specified, after which they were placed in a temporary detention facility until trial.

In May 2022, popular British blogger Benjamin Rich, who blogs about traveling to former USSR countries, was detained on the territory of the 'Southern' cosmodrome in the city of Baikonur. He was fined 5,000 rubles and released.

Russia leases the territory for the cosmodrome in Kazakhstan until 2050.
