Ukraine has launched a pre-trial investigation into violations of the laws and customs of war, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reported. The reason was a video published on October 27 in Telegram channels showing the murder of civilians in Selydove, Donetsk, Ukrainian media reported.
«The published video shows representatives of the aggressor state's forces, presumably shooting a civilian car with automatic weapons in the settlement. During the attack, there were two civilians in the car, one of whom was injured», — the Prosecutor General's Office reported. After this, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers arrived at the scene, pulled the victim away from the line of fire, provided first aid, and evacuated civilians from under fire. This presumably happened on October 24.
Lieutenant of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the call sign «Alex» writes in his Telegram channel «Officer» that «while flying drones over controlled areas of the city, especially the private sector, bodies in civilian clothes were spotted on the streets, even though these areas of the city were not affected by active hostilities, meaning these murders occurred after the enemy took control of these territories».
The Prosecutor General's Office is also investigating reports of the shooting of two women in the city. Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into criminal proceedings for violations of the laws and customs of war.
The agency notes that Russian troops are shooting not only civilians in the captured areas of Selydove but also Ukrainian soldiers who have surrendered. Currently, the murder of four National Guard servicemen in the Nelydove area is being investigated.
In early October, it was reported about the shooting of 16 captured Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in the Pokrovske direction, which became the largest mass killing of captured Ukrainian soldiers since the beginning of the war.
