According to the investigation, the teenagers planned to infiltrate a military airfield in the Usolsky district (Irkutsk region) and set fire to two TU-22M planes, writes Baza. Two of the young men are 17 years old, the youngest is 15. They were detained back on September 18, and they are currently in detention on charges of "preparing a terrorist act," facing up to 20 years in prison.
According to the publication, the brother of one of the detainees went to war in Ukraine last spring.
This is already the third case in the past two months where minors have attempted to set fire to military aircraft. On September 23, two 16-year-old teenagers set fire to a Mi-8 helicopter at an airbase in the Omsk region. After being detained, one of them confessed that he acted on the instructions of an unknown person who contacted him via Telegram, promising to pay $20,000.
On the night of September 11, two schoolchildren aged 13 and 14 were hospitalized after setting fire to a Mi-8T helicopter at the airport in Noyabrsk. They also reported being contacted via Telegram and promised 5 million rubles for the sabotage. Baza wrote that the father of one of them is participating in the war against Ukraine.
