According to the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper, one person died, and eight were injured. The injured are in the hospital, two of them in serious condition. All the injured and the deceased were workers of the port infrastructure.
The Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, Oleksiy Kuleba, stated that Russia launched another attack on the Odessa port. According to him, the bulk carrier under the flag of Palau Optima was damaged for the second time. A week ago, this same ship was already damaged as a result of shelling, and foreigners—crew members—were injured. Another ship damaged today is the NS Moon under the flag of Belize.
In addition, during the attack, a grain warehouse, cargo cranes, storage facilities, equipment, buildings, and vehicles were damaged. «In reality, the targets are the same: civilian ships, grain storage facilities, terminals. The infrastructure through which we ensure the world's food security, which Russia once again puts at risk, undermining all norms of international law,» Kuleba said.
Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the violation of the laws and customs of war.
On October 11, as a result of a Russian ballistic missile attack, four people died, and 10 were injured.
On October 9, the Russian army shelled a civilian container ship under the flag of Panama. As a result, nine people died, and eight were injured.
