The investigation presented the final version of the charges to 65-year-old journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova in the case of two publications in her personal Telegram channel, reported the human rights project 'OVD-Info'*** citing lawyer Kaloy Akhilgov.
Kevorkova, who collaborated with 'Nezavisimaya Gazeta', Russia Today, and 'Novaya Gazeta', is accused of 'justification of terrorism' in two episodes. One of the posts attributed to her is a text by journalist Orkhan Dzhemal, which he wrote in 2010, and Kevorkova republished it in 2018—after Dzhemal's death in the CAR, where he was filming a movie about the Wagner PMC.
The second episode is related to a text about the 'Taliban' movement, which is recognized as terrorist in Russia. However, Russian authorities increasingly declare that the 'Taliban' is not a terrorist organization, and Taliban delegations come to official events in Moscow and meet with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In early October, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov announced the exclusion of the 'Taliban' movement from the list of terrorist organizations. 'We see the Taliban's readiness to fight the most dangerous wing of ISIS** — 'Vilayat Khorasan', which continues to receive resource support from the West, using the capabilities of the terrorist group in false flag operations on our territory,' emphasized the head of the FSB. Meanwhile, the case of Nadezhda Kevorkova did not reflect the new trends in Russia's foreign policy.
'The expert points out that the publications contain signs of a positive attitude towards the activities of the 'Taliban' movement participants. (One wants to ask, is Nadezhda the only one?). As for Orkhan Dzhemal's text, the expert saw signs of justification of the activities of the persons mentioned in the text, who have long been deceased,' wrote Kaloy Akhilgov.
The lawyer assumes that in November the case will be submitted to the military garrison court.
Nadezhda Kevorkova was detained on May 6, her home was searched, after which the court sent her to a pre-trial detention center.
