On the evening of October 11, at the entrance to the capital of Ingushetia, Magas, unknown individuals fired at a car with police officers. According to media reports, it was the car of the deputy head of the regional Center for Combating Extremism, Adam Khamkhoev. Three people died, as reported by 'Kommersant', they were Khamkhoev's guards, he himself was not injured. A 'Interception' plan has been announced in the republic.
According to the Investigative Committee, the attackers were in a car parked near the federal highway 'Caucasus'. Preliminary data suggests there were two of them, after the attack they set the car on fire and 'either switched to another car or left on foot' towards North Ossetia, a source told 'Kommersant'.
A criminal case has been initiated under articles on attempted life of law enforcement officers and illegal arms trafficking.
This is not the first known attempt on the lives of employees of the center for countering extremism. In November 2019, the head of the Ingush center 'E', Ibragim Eldzharkiev, was shot in Moscow. Khamkhoev is a victim in the case of his murder.
