Three residents of Kabardino-Balkaria were shot by FSB officers during their arrest, being labeled as «members of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia», reported the Investigative Committee.
According to the security forces, on August 1, on the outskirts of the village of Islamey in the Baksan district, three armed men were found in a car. When demanded to surrender, they opened fire with firearms and were neutralized on the spot. None of the special service officers, who were fired upon, were injured.
Several firearms, improvised explosive devices, and ammunition were found and seized in the car, reported the FSB.
The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on the attempt on the lives of law enforcement officers and the illegal trafficking of weapons and explosives. In addition, a case was also initiated on terrorism and involvement in a terrorist community.
