Two nuclear submarines have already arrived at the location, which the US president previously described as "closer to Russia." "I have already made a statement, and the answer is: they are in the region where they are supposed to be," said Trump during a conversation with journalists, without specifying where the location is.
The US president also noted that his special envoy Steve Whitcoff will arrive in Moscow this week. "And, I think, next week, on Wednesday or Thursday, he [Whitcoff] might go to Russia. They would like to meet with him. They requested this meeting. So we'll see what comes of it," said Donald Trump to journalists.
Whitcoff will propose to Russia to conclude an agreement to end the war in Ukraine if Moscow wants to avoid sanctions from the US. If the meeting does not yield results, then on August 8, Trump threatens to impose sanctions, including setting 100-percent tariffs for countries purchasing Russian oil.
