«Idel.Realii»* based on open data maintains a list of losses in Ukraine among natives of the Volga region. As of the morning of July 28, at least 37,487 people from 15 regions have died. The most casualties are aged 30-34 — 1,666 military personnel.
The leader in the number of casualties is Bashkortostan: the war claimed the lives of at least 6,459 military personnel from the republic. This is the largest number not only in the Volga region but also in Russia. A one-time payment in the republic for signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense is 1.6 million rubles, additionally about 700 thousand rubles are paid by cities and districts.
Next on the list is Tatarstan with 5,658 and Perm Krai with 3,904 names. The smallest losses among the regions of the Volga region are in the Penza region and Mordovia.
Journalists from «Meduza»** and «BBC Russian Service»** as of July 25 identified the names of 120,343 Russians killed in the war.
